The open book with the lighted lamp symbolises the ever expanding knowledge and wisdom which dispels darkness and ignorance. The peacock symbolises the great artistic and cultural heritage of Mayurbhanj and the inculcation of artistic genius in students. The scientific apparatus shows the quest for scientific research and the ship floating on water shows the craze for expansion of knowledge on commerce.
